The Saddlebag is your own notebook inside the admin panel: post ideas, reminders, a question for the photographer. Every person on your team has their own, and nobody else can open it.

Click your name at the top of the admin panel and choose Saddlebag.

Write a note

Press New note, write, and press Save. The title is optional: a note without one is listed as "Untitled note", with the start of its text under it.

A note is plain text, up to 10,000 characters. The counter under the text shows how much you have used. There are no images and no formatting, on purpose: it is a notebook, not a second editor.

To change a note, click its card. From the same window you can Delete it or Pin it.

Find a note again

  • Pinned notes stay on top.
  • Below them, the note you changed last comes first.
  • Type into Search notes to filter the cards as you type. It looks in titles and in the text.

You can keep up to 200 notes. When the Saddlebag is full, delete one to add another.

Who can see your notes

Only you. No page, search or permission shows a private note to anyone else on the team, the Master included.

One honest limit: your notes are stored in your blog's database and in its backups, like your posts. Whoever has the hosting account or a backup file could read them there. Do not keep passwords in a note.

Share a note with the team (Business plan)

On Business, a note has a Share to DonkeyBoard button. The note then leaves your Saddlebag and appears on the team's DonkeyBoard under your name, where everyone can read it.

Changed your mind? Open the note on the board and press Move back to my Saddlebag. Only you can do that with your own note.

Good to know

  • Backups: notes are part of every backup. Restoring Everything from a backup made before version 1.01 leaves the notes empty, because that backup has none; the safety backup made just before the restore still holds them.
  • When a team member is removed: their private notes are deleted with the account.
  • If your plan ends: the Saddlebag cannot be opened below Pro. Your notes are kept and come back when you renew.
  • White-label: on a white-labeled blog the Saddlebag is called My Notes.
