Newsletter sign-up
BUSINESSWHITE-LABELConnect your blog to the newsletter service you already use, and every post gets a Subscribe to our newsletter button at the end. A visitor clicks it, types their email address in the small window that opens, and is added to your list in that service.
DonkeyCMS does not keep a list of its own: the address goes straight to your newsletter service, where you write and send your newsletters as usual.
Connect your newsletter service
Open Settings → Newsletter. There is one box for each service: NewsMAN, Mailchimp, theMarketer, Brevo, MailerLite and GetResponse. Click a box to open it.
12- Switch the service on.
- Test, then pick your list.
- In your newsletter service, create the list subscribers should go to, if you have not already.
- Copy your API key from the service. Each box says where to find it; Learn more opens the service's own help.
- Paste it into the box (for NewsMAN also your NewsMAN User ID; for theMarketer the REST Key and Customer ID).
- Press Test Connection. When it connects, DonkeyCMS loads your lists: if you have one it is selected for you, otherwise pick one.
- Switch the box On and press Save changes. The box now shows an Active badge.
Only one service can be active at a time; switching one on switches the others off. Saved API keys are never shown again; leave the field empty to keep the saved one.
When the button appears
The Subscribe button shows at the end of every post once both of these are true:
- a newsletter service is active and fully set up (a red note in its box tells you if something is missing), and
- the Cloudflare Turnstile keys are filled in on Settings → Comment settings. Turnstile stops robots from filling your list with fake addresses; see Comments for how to get the keys. You do not need to turn comments on.
To change the words on the button and in the window, see Languages and Blog wording.
Tip: Turn on double opt-in (a confirmation email) in your newsletter service, if it offers it. It keeps mistyped and fake addresses off your list, and in many countries it is the safest way to show people really asked to subscribe.
