Open Settings in the menu on the left. It opens a list of settings pages; General is the first one.

Every Settings page shares one Save changes button at the bottom. If you try to leave with changes you have not saved, DonkeyCMS asks first, so nothing is lost by accident.

Settings, General: the Site name, Time zone and Homepage URL fields, and the JSON API box.123
  1. Your business or brand name.
  2. Type a city to find your time zone.
  3. Your main website, for the breadcrumb's first link.

Site name

Your business or brand name. Search engines and AI tools credit your posts to it, and the emails your blog sends (password resets, invitations) go out under it.

Time zone

Type a city or region and pick it from the list. The time zone is used for post dates, scheduled posts, backups and analytics, so a post scheduled for 9:00 goes live at 9:00 where you are, not where your hosting company's server is.

Tip: Set this right after installing. Times saved before the change keep the time they were saved with.

Homepage URL

The address of your main website, outside the blog, for example https://yoursite.com. It is used for the first link in the breadcrumb at the top of every post, so visitors can get back to your homepage. Leave it empty and the breadcrumb starts at "Blog".

JSON API (Business plan)

Lets another app or website of yours read your blog posts automatically, for example to show your latest posts somewhere else. It is off until you tick Enable JSON API; nobody reading your blog notices any difference either way.

When it is on, two addresses appear, each with a copy button:

  • The first lists your published posts: titles, summaries and dates.
  • The second gives one post in full. Replace post-slug with a real post's address.

Tick Require an access key and save to refuse any request that does not carry your key. Press Generate New Key to make one and share it only with whoever is building the app. A new key works at once, without saving, and the old one stops working.
