Comments
PROBUSINESSWHITE-LABELVisitors can leave a comment under each published post. You decide whether comments appear at once or wait for your approval.
Turn comments on
Open Settings → Comment settings.
123- Turn comments on.
- Manual or Automatic.
- Both keys, or the form stays hidden.
- Switch Enable Comments on.
- Get two free keys from Cloudflare Turnstile and paste them into Site Key and Secret Key (see below).
- Choose an Approval Mode and press Save changes.
The comment form stays hidden from visitors until both Turnstile keys are filled in, even when Enable Comments is on. A red note on the page reminds you while a key is missing.
Cloudflare Turnstile keys
Turnstile is Cloudflare's free check that a comment comes from a person and not a robot. Visitors usually see nothing more than a small box that ticks itself, and it sets no cookies. You do not need to move your website to Cloudflare.
- Sign in to (or create) a free Cloudflare account and open Turnstile.
- Add a widget, enter your website's domain, and keep the default mode.
- Copy the Site Key and the Secret Key into DonkeyCMS.
The Secret Key field is always empty when you open the page; leave it empty to keep the saved key.
Approval Mode
- Manual: every new comment waits in Pending until someone approves it.
- Automatic: comments appear at once, unless they look like spam.
In both modes, someone who has had a comment approved before skips the queue next time.
Comments that look like spam (more than two links, or sent within three seconds of opening the page, faster than a person can type) are set aside and never shown. The person who sent them sees the usual "awaiting approval" message, so a spammer learns nothing.
Approve and delete comments
Open Comments in the menu on the left. It has two tabs:
- Pending: comments waiting for approval, each with the name, email address, the post it is on and the date. Press Approve or Delete, or tick several and use Approve selected or Delete selected.
- Approved: comments visitors can see. Delete takes one down.
Below the Pending list, a line says how many comments were filtered as spam; Clear spam deletes them all.
Deleting a comment cannot be undone.
Tip: DonkeyCMS does not email you about new comments yet, so look at Comments now and then. The dashboard's Comments card shows how many are waiting.
Who can moderate
Anyone whose role has the Manage Comments permission can use the Comments page. The comment settings are part of Settings, which needs Manage Settings. Roles are set up under Users → Roles.
